Samir Abu Arar, also known as Al-Bouti, a resident of Arara in the Negev in his 40s, was shot dead on Wednesday afternoon while sitting in his car. Police said they opened an investigation and believe the killing stemmed from an internal neighborhood dispute. Since the start of the year, 128 people have been killed in the Arab community.
According to witnesses, the attackers blocked Abu Arar's vehicle and fired 12 rounds at him. Residents of the town said, “They murdered him in cold blood,” adding, “They chose the most ordinary person in order to hurt others.” Abu Arar had married off both of his sons about a month ago.
The shooting was reported to MDA at 5:31 p.m. Abu Arar was taken to a local clinic in Arara in the Negev, then evacuated by MDA teams to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead. Police said they were collecting evidence, taking testimony and carrying out extensive searches for suspects while restoring order at the scene.
The killing came amid a series of recent shootings. Two days earlier, a well-known 22-year-old TikTok creator was seriously wounded at a cafe on Raziel Street in Jaffa during a live broadcast. On Friday, Majed Sabi, 25, was shot dead in Kafr Kanna, apparently after his surname was mistaken for that of young men involved in a confrontation with the suspects. His father said, “It is hard for us to cope with such a shocking tragedy. They asked him what his family name was, and then shot him five times.”
