Two Suspects Arrested for Fatal Shooting in Northern Negev Bedouin Village

Israeli police arrested two suspects overnight in connection with the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Amer Alqaraan and another man in his thirties in the Bedouin village of Kseifa in the Negev. Alqaraan was evacuated to Soroka Medical Center in critical condition but was pronounced dead upon arrival. The suspects, residents of the Bedouin diaspora, were detained as part of an ongoing investigation, which also recovered a vehicle allegedly used in the incident. Preliminary findings suggest the shooting stemmed from a criminal dispute between two factions of the same family. The suspects have been transferred to the Israel Police's National Unit for further interrogation and will soon appear before the Beersheba Magistrate's Court to request an extension of their detention. Additional arrests are expected as the investigation continues.

Following Alqaraan's death, the Abraham Initiatives organization reported that 158 Arabs have died in crime and violence-related incidents since the start of 2026, including 154 civilians and 4 residents, marking a 4% increase compared to 152 victims in the same period last year. Separately, a 15-year-old boy was seriously injured by gunfire in Yafia near Nazareth on Tuesday. Magen David Adom paramedic Ahmad Azaiza described the boy as conscious with significant penetrating injuries, who was stabilized and transported to the hospital.

The day before, an 8-year-old girl was wounded by gunfire near a house in Deir Hanna in the Galilee. She was initially in serious condition but later stabilized to moderate. Police have launched investigations and searches for suspects in both cases, with criminal motives suspected but circumstances still under review.
