A man about 40 years old was fatally wounded on Wednesday in Ar'ara in the Negev after medics responded to a report of a violent incident. Magen David Adom paramedics found him unconscious and in critical condition with penetrating injuries, treated him at the scene, and evacuated him to Soroka Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police were called to the scene and opened an investigation, while officers searched the area for evidence. The suspected background is criminal, likely tied to a dispute between families.
The killing comes about three weeks after a separate shooting in Ar'ara in the Negev, in which four people were hit. At that time, one 40-year-old man was seriously wounded and three others, including men aged 18 and 39, were moderately hurt.
Large police forces from the Rotem district were deployed then, worked to calm tensions in the village, and arrested six suspects on suspicion of involvement in the shooting. MDA paramedic Orgad Cohen said all four victims were conscious and had severe penetrating wounds, adding, “We provided them with life-saving medical treatment and evacuated them to the hospital, with all of the injured in stable condition. Among the injured was a man in his 40s who was seriously hurt.”
