Man in His 40s Arrested for Involvement in Negev City Criminal Killing

A man in his 40s from Netivot was arrested overnight on suspicion of involvement in a criminal killing that took place in the southern city on Saturday evening. The suspect was transferred to the Negev District Investigation Unit for further questioning and is expected to appear in Beersheba Magistrate's Court later today for a remand extension hearing. The victim, a man around 40 years old known to police, was shot dead, and a 29-year-old man was lightly injured in the incident. Police forces from the Negev region responded to the scene, and following an assessment by Southern District Commander Chief Superintendent Haim Bublil, the investigation was assigned to the Negev District Investigation Unit. Within hours, officers from the Netivot station and the district unit arrested the suspect.

Magen David Adom senior medic Uriel Cohen reported that the injured man was found conscious with a bodily wound and was evacuated to hospital in light condition. The deceased victim was found unconscious with no pulse or breathing, and despite advanced resuscitation efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other suspects, aged in their 20s and 30s from the Bedouin community in the Negev, were arrested two days earlier on suspicion of involvement in the killing of 26-year-old Amer Alqaraan in Kseifa. The vehicle used in that crime was also seized. Investigations indicate the motive behind these killings is a criminal dispute between two factions of the same family. Alqaraan was admitted to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba in critical condition but died shortly after arrival. Police stated the investigation is ongoing and further arrests are anticipated.
