1200 Rosh Hashanah Food Packages Assembled in Petah Tikva Honoring Fallen Soldier

In Petah Tikva, approximately 1,200 food packages were assembled for needy families ahead of the Rosh Hashanah holiday, in memory of Sergeant Idan Fox. The annual SAHI charity initiative, organized by the city's Public Safety Administration, saw dozens of young volunteers pack the provisions.

The SAHI program, a youth outreach and prevention initiative, allows participants to anonymously select and assist families in need. This year, the Petah Tikva brigade chose to honor Idan Fox, a local sergeant who was killed in Lebanon about four months prior. Volunteers reportedly felt a connection to his values after learning about his life.

Meital Fox, Idan's mother, shared her late son's philosophy, stating, "The most important thing in the world is to do something good for someone." She encouraged participants to "do at least one small good deed a day in memory of Idan."

On Wednesday, September 9, the eve of Rosh Hashanah, volunteers gathered at the municipal sports field. Idan Fox's parents and siblings were present and assisted in distributing the packages. The event also acknowledged the SAHI headquarters, inter-city partners, the Youth Department, the Pisgat Hadar Community Center, and the Fox family for their contributions.

The SAHI initiative aims to provide young people with opportunities for community service and personal development while offering tangible support to vulnerable families.
