IDF Prepares Rosh Hashanah Feast for Troops with Tons of Food
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is undertaking extensive logistical preparations to provide holiday meals for soldiers serving on the front lines during Rosh Hashanah. The preparations, which began five months ago, involve supplying approximately 103 tons of fish, 9 tons of honey, 12 tons of pomegranates, and 93,000 bottles of grape juice.
Special attention is being given to forces engaged in combat operations, with around 10,000 specially designed meal kits being distributed. These kits contain all necessary ingredients for a Rosh Hashanah meal, including individual honey portions, honey cakes, apple snacks, symbolic holiday plates, and a booklet of blessings, tailored for field conditions.
On the second day of the holiday, soldiers will be permitted to grill meat, with the IDF providing tens of tons of entrecôte steak and other barbecue items. The logistics corps will continue to support maneuvering forces in operational areas like Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Judea and Samaria, ensuring they receive supplementary food supplies suited to their needs and the operational environment.
The IDF has also ensured that food options are available for soldiers with dietary restrictions, including those who are celiac, vegan, or vegetarian, to accommodate all personnel during the holiday. A dedicated WhatsApp hotline and a phone service have been established to address any issues with food supply during the holiday period.
