Maccabi Haifa Players Pack Food Parcels for Needy Ahead of Rosh Hashanah

Maccabi Haifa football club, in collaboration with the "Yad Ezrah Le'Chaver" association, organized a significant charitable event ahead of the Rosh Hashanah holiday. Dozens of food packages were assembled by the team's players, coaching staff, and administrative personnel from Kfar Galim.

This year's initiative held special poignancy as it was dedicated to the memory of Mai Na'im, granddaughter of former coach Shlomo Sharf, and Shani Gabai, a fan of the club. Both young women were tragically killed on October 7th at the Nova music festival. Shlomo Sharf and Michal, Shani's mother, participated in the packing, visibly moved by the event.

Shimon Sabag, CEO and founder of "Yad Ezrah Le'Chaver," highlighted the annual nature of the collaboration, emphasizing the added emotional weight this year due to the commemoration of Na'im and Gabai. He praised Maccabi Haifa as "the most community-oriented club in Israel" and expressed his joy that underprivileged families and Holocaust survivors would be able to observe the holiday with dignity.

Team captain, Tjaronn Chery, described the activity as a "great privilege and a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community," underscoring its importance to the club. Goalkeeper Omri Glazer added that it was heartening to see everyone rally to help those in need, reinforcing the club's commitment to community support. Player Yarin Levi echoed these sentiments, calling the act of helping families prepare for the holiday "very moving and a great mitzvah (commandment)."
