Maccabi Haifa Players Pack Food for Needy Ahead of Rosh Hashanah

Maccabi Haifa Football Club, in collaboration with the "Yad Ezr LaChaver" (Helping Hand) organization, has continued its annual tradition of packing food packages for the needy ahead of the Rosh Hashanah holiday. This year's initiative, held at the "Kfar Galim" facility, saw all players, coaching staff, and management members participate in assembling dozens of food parcels.

The event was dedicated to the memory of Mai Na'im, granddaughter of former Israeli national team coach Shlomo Sharrf, and Shani Gabay, a fan of the club. Both women were tragically killed during the Nova music festival on October 7th. Shlomo Sharrf and Michal, Shani's mother, joined the volunteers, expressing deep emotion.

Shimon Sabag, CEO and founder of "Yad Ezr LaChaver," highlighted the long-standing partnership with Maccabi Haifa, emphasizing the added emotional significance of this year's event due to the memorial. He praised Maccabi Haifa as "the most community-oriented club in Israel" and expressed his joy that underprivileged families and Holocaust survivors would be able to celebrate the holiday with dignity.

Maccabi Haifa's captain, Kanga Hura, stated that it is a "great privilege and a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community," underscoring the club's commitment to community activities. Goalkeeper Omri Glazer added that seeing everyone rally to help those in need before Rosh Hashanah is "so good," reinforcing the club's dedication to community support. Player Yarin Levi described the activity as "very moving and a great mitzvah (good deed)" to help families have food for the holiday, expressing his happiness to be a part of it.
