Maccabi Haifa Players Pack Food Parcels for Needy Ahead of Rosh Hashanah

Maccabi Haifa football club, in collaboration with the "Yad Ezrah Le'Chaver" organization, packed dozens of food parcels for the needy in anticipation of the Rosh Hashanah holiday. All players, the professional staff, and management from the "Kfar Galim" facility participated in the initiative.

This year's event held special significance as it was dedicated to the memory of Mai Na'im, granddaughter of former coach Shlomo Sharaf, and Shani Gabai, a fan of the team. Both young women were murdered on October 7th at the Nova music festival. Shlomo Sharaf and Shani's mother, Michal, joined the packing effort and were deeply moved.

Shimon Sabag, CEO and founder of "Yad Ezrah Le'Chaver," stated that the annual collaboration with Maccabi Haifa is always emotional, but this year was particularly poignant honoring the memory of Shani and Mai in the presence of their families. He praised Maccabi Haifa as the most community-oriented club in Israel, ensuring that underprivileged families and Holocaust survivors can observe the holiday with dignity.

Team captain, Tjaronn Chery, described the activity as a great privilege and opportunity to give back to the community, emphasizing its importance to the club. Goalkeeper Omri Glazer added that it feels good to see everyone rallying to help those in need, aligning with the club's commitment to community support. Yarin Levi expressed that it is very moving and a great mitzvah (good deed) to help families have food for the holiday, and he is happy to be a partner in this effort.
