Trump Predicts Iran War End Post Midterm Elections

U.S. President Donald Trump stated Wednesday that the conflict with Iran would conclude immediately following the upcoming midterm elections. "The war will end an hour after the elections," Trump told reporters before departing for a Republican conference in Texas. He also commented on Iran's nuclear ambitions, saying, "All they want is a nuclear weapon."

The president's remarks come amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, reportedly exacerbated by the U.S. administration's economic pressure policy. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps announced it had attacked a U.S. base in Jordan, with interceptions reportedly seen over Israel. Jordan confirmed receiving 20 missiles from Iran, of which 18 were intercepted and two fell in unpopulated areas.

An unnamed U.S. official told Fox News that all American soldiers in Jordan are accounted for and that there were no American casualties from the Iranian attacks. U.S. Central Command confirmed it destroyed five Iranian oil tankers in response to Iran launching ballistic missiles toward a U.S. Navy warship. Iran claims the Jordan attack was retaliation for the tanker destruction.

The Revolutionary Guard also claimed to have attacked two U.S. vessels and eight oil tankers in the Gulf in response to the U.S. strike on the tankers.
