Netanyahu's Son Pushed for Media Personality's Spot on Likud List
Yair Netanyahu, son of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is reportedly behind the effort to secure a guaranteed spot for media personality Yaakov Bardugo on the Likud party's electoral list. The claim was made by Knesset political correspondent Amihai Yerahmi on Tuesday, following controversy over Bardugo's potential placement.
The Likud party has denied these reports. Internal disagreements were also noted within Netanyahu's office regarding the appropriateness of such a move. Sources close to the Prime Minister reportedly warned that Bardugo might struggle to attract undecided voters and steer them towards the center.
In response to the allegations, the Likud party issued a statement calling the reports "lies" and criticizing Israeli media for fabricating stories involving Yair or Sara Netanyahu when lacking actual news. Bardugo is a known broadcaster and commentator for Channel 14 and Galei Tzahal (Army Radio), and previously hosted current affairs programs. He also has experience as CEO of the Center for Local Government in Israel and the Mifal HaPayis organization. He is also a businessman and lawyer.
