Airlines Expand Direct Flights From Tel Aviv to 11 Italian Cities

Several airlines are significantly increasing direct flight options from Tel Aviv to Italy, making at least 11 Italian cities accessible to Israeli travelers. Bluebird Airways has launched direct flights to Bologna, operating three times weekly with tickets starting at 128 euros one-way. As of September 17, Bluebird Airways will also add direct flights to Rome and Naples to its existing routes to Bologna, Bergamo, and Milan.

Wizz Air is also expanding its Italian offerings by resuming flights to Catania four times weekly and Venice three times weekly. The airline will double its weekly flights to Rome and Milan to 14 each, and increase flights to Naples to seven per week. These expanded services mean that during the upcoming Jewish holidays and the fall season, travelers can fly directly from Tel Aviv to at least 11 Italian cities, including Rome, Milan, Bergamo, Venice, Verona, Bologna, Naples, Bari, Catania, Palermo, and Cagliari.

Israeli airlines El Al, Arkia, and Israir also operate routes to Italy, some of which are seasonal. Italy remains a highly popular destination for Israelis. In July, approximately 180,000 passengers flew from Israel to Italy, accounting for 7.8% of Ben Gurion Airport's total passenger traffic, an increase from 5.84% the previous year. For the first seven months of 2026, about 640,000 passengers traveled to Italy, representing 7.5% of Ben Gurion's traffic.

Rome and Milan are the most sought-after destinations, followed by Catania, Verona, and Naples, according to lastminute.co.il. The average round-trip direct flight cost as of October 3 is around $350, with prices varying significantly by destination and date. Some flights, particularly those operated by Israeli carriers, may have higher prices but offer more flexible booking conditions and may include carry-on baggage. Flight prices are dynamic and depend on travel dates and flight load.
