Maccabi Tel Aviv has asserted itself as the team to beat in the 2026/27 Israeli Premier League season after a convincing 4-1 victory over reigning champions Hapoel Be'er Sheva. The win, attributed to a significant increase in the team's tactical intelligence and the seamless integration of new signings Gabi Kanyukovsky and James Tavernier, places Maccabi Tel Aviv in a strong early position.

Kanyukovsky, in particular, has been instrumental, influencing play even without touching the ball and orchestrating numerous counter-attacks, while Tavernier has provided consistent threat from the right flank.
