Dor Alon Energy Suspects Employees of Stealing NIS 40 Million in Cash
Energy company Dor Alon, which operates gas stations across Israel, reported on Tuesday a suspected large-scale theft of cash from several of its fueling stations. The company estimates the total amount stolen to be approximately NIS 40 million, primarily occurring over the past few years.
Dor Alon stated that "employees of certain complexes" are believed to be behind the alleged thefts. The company has launched an internal investigation, hired an external private investigation firm, and filed a complaint with the Israel Police.
The company is currently assessing the potential impact of the thefts on its financial statements and whether accounting adjustments will be necessary. Dor Alon also confirmed it holds an insurance policy for fraud and embezzlement.
Despite the significant sum involved, Dor Alon clarified that the incident has had no impact on customer funds or liabilities. The alleged thefts reportedly took place at stations located in the Sharon and Shfela regions.
