Retired General Amir Avivi Joins Netanyahu's Likud Party
Retired Major General Amir Avivi, founder of the "Bithonistim" (Security Advocates) movement, has joined the Likud party. The party announced that Avivi will be placed in a secured spot on its electoral list, and his movement will also join.
Avivi held numerous senior command positions during his military service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), including Deputy Inspector General of the Ministry of Defense, Chief of Staff to the Chief of the General Staff, and Deputy Commander of the Gaza Division. He also commanded the Sagi Brigade, the 605th Battalion, and the Combat Engineering Corps School.
Born in Jerusalem, Avivi lived abroad during his childhood due to his father's diplomatic postings. He returned to Israel at age 18 as a lone soldier, enlisting in the Combat Engineering Corps and rising through the ranks to Major General.
The Likud stated that Avivi and his movement support Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's security doctrine, which emphasizes principles of decisiveness, initiative, and Israel's security independence. The party welcomed Avivi, wishing him success.
