Ex-Patriots Panelist Amir Avivy Joins Netanyahu's Likud Party List
The Likud party announced Tuesday the addition of retired Brigadier General Amir Avivy to its electoral list. Avivy is the founder of the 'Bithonistim' (Security Advocates) movement and a former panelist on the "HaPatriotim" (The Patriots) program.
Avivy, who served in numerous senior roles in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) including Deputy Inspector General of the Defense Establishment, Head of the Chief of Staff's Bureau, and Deputy Commander of the Gaza Division, rose to the rank of Brigadier General. He also commanded the Sagi Brigade and Battalion 605, and headed the Combat Engineering School.
In recent years, Avivy has led the Bithonistim movement, which advocates for national security issues. The Likud party stated that Avivy and his movement support Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's security doctrine, emphasizing decisive action, initiative, and Israel's security independence.
Avivy was born in Jerusalem and lived abroad during his childhood due to his father's diplomatic postings. He returned to Israel at age 18 as a lone soldier, enlisting in the Combat Engineering Corps before advancing through the command ranks.
