Retired General Amir Avivi Joins Likud Party, Bringing Security Movement

Retired Brigadier General Amir Avivi, founder of the "Security Professionals" movement, has joined the Likud party's Knesset list. As part of this move, Avivi's "Security Professionals" movement will merge with Likud.

Avivi brings extensive military experience to the political arena, having held numerous senior positions in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). His roles included Deputy Inspector General of the Defense Establishment, Head of the Chief of Staff's Bureau, Deputy Commander of the Gaza Division, Commander of the Sagi Brigade, Commander of the 605th Battalion, and Commander of the Combat Engineering School. He rose through the ranks to Brigadier General after enlisting as a combat soldier in the Combat Engineering Corps.

Born in Jerusalem, Avivi lived abroad during his childhood due to his father's diplomatic postings. He returned to Israel at age 18 as a lone soldier. Avivi and his movement advocate for a security doctrine centered on decisiveness, initiative, and Israel's security independence, aligning with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's approach.

Avivi's entry into politics signifies a potential strengthening of the security-focused platform within the Likud party.
