Man Recovers After Choking on Schnitzel in Jerusalem
A 53-year-old man choked on a schnitzel during a meal at his home in the Ramat Dalet neighborhood of Beit Shemesh on Monday evening. He lost consciousness and required resuscitation efforts.
Medical teams from the United Hatzalah organization were dispatched to the scene and provided him with medical treatment, including chest compressions, artificial respiration, and defibrillation. The man's heart resumed beating after their intensive efforts.
He was subsequently transported to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, where he is listed in serious condition. "We were told by his family members that he choked on a schnitzel during the meal and lost consciousness," said Yoel Lissoar, Benzi Barminka, and Yissachar Yaakovzan, United Hatzalah paramedics who were first on the scene. "We performed intensive resuscitation efforts, and fortunately, his heart resumed beating. He was evacuated to Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem in serious condition."
