Man Chokes on Schnitzel, Hospitalized in Serious Condition

A 53-year-old Haredi man lost consciousness at his home in the Ramat Bet Shemesh neighborhood of Beit Shemesh on Monday evening after choking on schnitzel during a meal. Emergency teams from United Hatzalah, who were called to the scene, performed extensive resuscitation efforts and managed to restore his heartbeat. According to the report received at the United Hatzalah dispatch center, the man's family called for help after he suddenly collapsed. They informed the teams that he had choked on schnitzel and lost consciousness.

First responders Yoel Lisoyar, Benzi Barminka, and Yishachar Yaakovzan described the critical moments, stating, "We were told by his family that he choked on schnitzel during the meal and lost consciousness. We performed extensive resuscitation efforts, including chest compressions, artificial respiration, and the use of a United Hatzalah defibrillator."

The advanced resuscitation efforts by the medical teams were successful. "Miraculously, his heart began beating again, and he was evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem in serious condition," the paramedics added.

This incident joins a series of choking incidents that have occurred in recent months within the Haredi community. Approximately two months ago, a 7-month-old infant in Bnei Brak died after choking on a plastic bag, despite resuscitation efforts by emergency teams.
