Omri Casspi Poised to Join Billionaire Ranks Through Tech Investments
Former NBA player Omri Casspi is on track to join the ranks of billionaires, leveraging his success in professional basketball to build a significant career in technology investments. After a decade playing in the NBA, earning approximately $18 million in salary, Casspi has shifted his focus to venture capital.
His primary growth engine is Swish Ventures, a venture capital fund he established in late 2024. The fund currently manages about $800 million in assets, following a recent $250 million fundraising round. Swish Ventures strategically invests in cybersecurity, infrastructure, and artificial intelligence startups.
Out of approximately 20 companies in its portfolio, eight have achieved unicorn status, and the total valuation of Swish's portfolio companies has surpassed $60 billion. The fund's success is attributed to its early and accurate identification of promising startups.
Notable investments include Cognition AI, initially backed at a $150 million valuation and now approaching a $47 billion valuation, and Upwind Security, which saw its valuation surge from $65 million to $3.8 billion. Casspi employs an aggressive investment strategy, deploying average checks of around $20 million into a select group of companies.
While the fund's assets do not directly reflect his personal wealth, Casspi's bold and timely investments position him as a leading figure among influential entrepreneurs and investors.
