Democratic Front Candidate Reaffirms Run Amid Internal Crisis

Jaafar Farrah, a candidate for the second seat on the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality's list, announced Sunday evening that he is sticking to his candidacy, shortly after being released from the hospital. The party faces critical hours to decide the fate of the seat as an escalating crisis unfolds, with a tight deadline approaching for submitting electoral lists.

The Front had previously issued a statement claiming Farrah had informed them of his decision to withdraw his candidacy. However, Farrah, upon leaving the hospital, clearly stated his commitment to running, emphasizing that the decision to confirm or withdraw his candidacy rests with the elected council.

In a message shared after his hospital release, Farrah thanked those who had contacted him and apologized for his unavailability over the previous two days.

Mahir Abed, secretary of the Nazareth Front, told Hala TV and Panet that the General Council of the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality will convene Monday at 6 PM in Shfaramr to discuss the second seat. The meeting will either confirm Farrah's candidacy or elect an alternative.

Tense scenes were reported Saturday around a hall in Shfaramr where a meeting was held to elect an alternative candidate. Supporters of Farrah gathered, holding his pictures and protesting the Front's announcement of his withdrawal, demanding his reinstatement.
