Jerusalem Rabbi Sentenced to 18 Years for Sexual and Financial Crimes
Jerusalem District Court has sentenced Rabbi Moshe Yazdi, 63, to 18 years in prison plus one year of probation for sexual and financial offenses against his students. The court found him guilty in March on two counts of sexual offenses and two counts related to financial crimes.
In addition to the prison term, Yazdi has been ordered to pay 150,000 shekels in compensation to each victim. Yazdi founded and led the "Amudei Hashalom" association in Jerusalem's Bukharian Quarter, where he served as a rabbi and community leader.
The indictment, filed in 2022, detailed numerous sexual offenses against women within the community who attended his lessons. The trial concluded with a guilty verdict and the imposition of a lengthy prison sentence.
