Jerusalem Community Leader Sentenced to 18 Years for Sexual Assault and Financial Crimes
A Jerusalem court has sentenced Moshe Yazdi, former head of the "Amudei HaShalom" (Pillars of Peace) community in Jerusalem, to 18 years in prison. Yazdi was convicted of multiple serious offenses against two complainants, as well as financial crimes including money laundering and defrauding creditors.
Prosecutors alleged that Yazdi exploited his spiritual position, falsely claiming divine inspiration and preaching the "nullification of intellect" to facilitate his prolonged criminal activities. The judges determined that his actions undermined the religious values he espoused.
