Bnei Herzliya to Honor Arbitration Ruling on Max Heidegger Contract Dispute
Bnei Herzliya has officially responded to Hapoel Tel Aviv's announcement of signing basketball player Max Heidegger, asserting that Heidegger remains under contract with Herzliya. According to Herzliya's statement, Heidegger signed a contract for the 2026-27 seasons with a clause allowing him to break the agreement only to play abroad. In June, Heidegger informed Herzliya he was exercising this option to sign with Spanish team Burgos.
Herzliya claims that Heidegger's signing with Hapoel Tel Aviv violates the terms of his contract termination clause, meaning his contract with Herzliya is still valid. An arbitration hearing on the matter is scheduled to begin on September 7th. Herzliya believes the arbitration will conclude that Heidegger breached the agreement and must honor his contract with their club.
The club stated they respect the institutions of the Basketball Association and legal bodies in Israel and will abide by the arbitration's decision. Herzliya implied that Hapoel Tel Aviv, despite being aware of the details, chose to announce Heidegger's signing and present a fait accompli just before the arbitration proceedings were set to start.
