Bnei Herzliya to Honor Arbitration Ruling on Max Heidegger Contract Dispute

Bnei Herzliya has officially responded to Hapoel Tel Aviv's announcement of signing basketball player Max Heidegger, asserting that Heidegger remains under contract with Herzliya. According to Herzliya's statement, Heidegger signed a contract for the 2026-27 seasons with a clause allowing him to break the agreement only to play abroad. In June, Heidegger informed Herzliya he was exercising this option to sign with Spanish club Burgos.

Herzliya claims that Heidegger's signing with Hapoel Tel Aviv violates the terms of his contract termination clause, meaning his contract with Herzliya is still valid. An arbitration hearing on the matter is scheduled to begin on September 7th. Herzliya believes the arbitration will conclude that Heidegger breached the agreement and must honor his contract with their club.

The club stated, "Bnei Herzliya is a team that respects the institutions of the association and the legal institutions in the country and will accept any decision made in the arbitration." They added a pointed remark, "unlike, perhaps, the Hapoel Tel Aviv basketball club, which, despite being aware of the details and perhaps even because of it, decided to announce his signing and create facts on the ground the day before the arbitration begins."
