Max Heidegger Signs One-Year Deal With Hapoel Tel Aviv Basketball Club

Hapoel Tel Aviv has officially signed American-Israeli guard Max Heidegger to a one-year contract through the end of the 2026-27 season, the club announced Sunday. The 29-year-old, who stands at 1.91 meters, arrives after a stint with Spanish club Burgos, where he averaged 12.4 points in nine appearances last season. Heidegger expressed his excitement about joining Hapoel, citing the club's ambitions in both domestic and EuroLeague play. "I am very excited to join Hapoel. I am happy to be part of a club with so many aspirations, both domestically and in the EuroLeague, and I cannot be prouder to be a part of it. I look forward to achieving great things together and getting to work. Let's go Hapoel," he stated.

Head coach Dimitris Itoudis welcomed Heidegger, describing him as a "very talented and smart player" for the point guard position. "We are getting Max Heidegger, who is a very talented and smart player, for the point guard position. We look forward to working with him. I spoke with him during the summer, he is full of motivation and well aware of where he is going and what is expected of him," Itoudis said. Professional Director Giorgos Chiniadis added that Heidegger is known for his offensive abilities and playmaking talent, and will enhance the team's competitiveness.

Heidegger brings prior experience in the Israeli league, having previously played for Bnei Herzliya. In 17 games with Herzliya, he averaged 15.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.1 steals. His career also includes stints with Maccabi Tel Aviv, Oldenburg (Germany), Turk Telekom (Turkey), Baskonia (Spain), the Windy City Bulls in the NBA G League, and Venezia (Italy). He first joined Bnei Herzliya in the summer of 2025.
