Elderly Man Dies After Falling While Building Sukkot Booth in Efrat

An 84-year-old man died on Sunday afternoon after falling from a height while constructing a sukkah on his balcony in the Gush Etzion settlement of Efrat. The incident occurred around 1:40 PM on Matityahu Street in the Hazait neighborhood. Emergency medical services, who were dispatched to the scene, pronounced the man dead. ZAKA volunteers from the Gush Etzion region, including teams from Efrat and Beitar Illit, attended to the deceased and collected evidence at the scene. "This is a difficult incident," said Eyal Ehrenstam, commander of ZAKA's Gush Etzion region, along with deputy commander Yossi Holzman and volunteer Shlomo Ben Dahan. "The deceased fell from a height when he came to build a sukkah on his home's balcony. MDA teams had to confirm his death at the scene. Together with additional volunteers, we worked at the scene to treat the deceased with dignity and collect findings."

Following ZAKA's work at the scene, the deceased was released for burial.
