Meitav Trade Users See Zero Balances in Alarming Display Glitch
Customers of the Israeli trading platform Meitav Trade experienced a frightening technical malfunction on Sunday morning when their account balances and investment portfolio values appeared as zero. While the company assured clients that their funds and securities were unaffected and that the issue was solely a display error, the sight of a vanished portfolio caused significant alarm.
The glitch was identified and resolved quickly by Meitav Trade. Notably, the incident occurred on a Sunday, when both the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange and major international markets were closed, meaning clients were not actively trading or attempting to execute orders at the time.
Meitav Trade is one of Israel's largest trading platforms, boasting approximately 125,500 accounts as of late April. The company has seen substantial growth, adding around 9,700 new accounts in the first quarter of 2026 and growing its customer base by about 30% in 2025. This rapid expansion of retail investors using trading platforms highlights the increasing importance of system stability.
This is not the first time Israeli trading platforms have faced technical issues. In March, IBI Trade and Psagot Trade experienced outages, and Blink's trading app was down for about an hour in June. Meitav Trade itself suffered a broader outage in March of the previous year, alongside IBI Trade, which prevented investors from trading for hours and led to class-action lawsuits alleging damages.
Despite assurances that no actual financial losses or trading disruptions occurred this time, the initial visual of a zero balance can be deeply unsettling for investors until an explanation is provided. Meitav stated that customer service was available and responded to inquiries during the incident.
