Suspect Shot at Police in Netanya, Neutralized; Investigation Underway

Police in Netanya neutralized a suspect who allegedly fired at officers on Saturday in the Kiryat HaSharon area. This incident follows a separate event last Sunday, where a prosecutor's statement was filed against a man in his 30s from Jaffa. He is suspected of firing a weapon two weeks prior in the heart of the city. According to police, the suspect was apprehended shortly after the shots were heard while attempting to flee. A loaded handgun was found on his person. The incident occurred on August 18, when reports of gunfire were received from Jaffa. No injuries were reported in that event. Jaffa police officers on patrol in the area spotted the suspect upon arriving at the location of the shots. Police stated the suspect tried to escape but was arrested quickly. The loaded handgun was discovered during a search. He was taken for questioning, jailed, and his detention was extended periodically. Following the development of sufficient evidence, the prosecutor's statement indicates the prosecution intends to file an indictment in the coming days.
