Beitar Jerusalem Faces Transfer Market Uncertainty

Beitar Jerusalem is navigating a complex transfer market situation, with potential deals for two foreign players hanging in the balance. The club explained that if Johan Torres signs with Maccabi Netanya, it would be understandable, as Beitar had kept discussions with him and another foreign player on a low simmer, preparing for the possibility that the deal for Alexis Serna might fall through. This approach was described as a calculated risk, always considered when another team might enter negotiations.

Torres himself reportedly spoke with Beitar's Brian Karabeli, inquiring about both Beitar Jerusalem and Maccabi Netanya. The current predicament for Beitar is that Torres appears close to joining Netanya, and the second potential foreign player has expressed reservations about coming to Israel. Consequently, if the Serna deal does not progress by the end of the week, Beitar will need to quickly resume its search for suitable players.

Regarding the Serna transfer, Beitar officials spoke with his representatives in the last 24 hours about potentially increasing the loan fee to 200,000 euros in an effort to advance the deal. They are awaiting movement from Colombia. Brian Karabeli, acting as Beitar's liaison in discussions with the Colombians, informed the club that Serna is eager to join and is pushing for the deal, but the Colombian side is demanding a higher payment than Beitar is currently offering.
