Israel Forces Destroy Over 26 Kilometers of Gaza Tunnels Since Ceasefire

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Wednesday that its forces have neutralized over 26 kilometers of tunnels in the Gaza Strip since the current ceasefire went into effect. Operations are being conducted by soldiers from the Northern Brigade, under the command of the 99th Division, with support from the elite Yahalom combat engineering unit.

The objective of these operations is to locate and dismantle underground infrastructure east of the "yellow line," which refers to the border fence. In recent weeks, soldiers discovered and destroyed a new tunnel approximately one kilometer long in northern Gaza, according to the IDF. The military released footage of the tunnel's destruction and other operations in the area.

The IDF did not specify which group built the tunnel or provide further details on its intended use. Since the ceasefire began, forces from the Northern Brigade have reportedly rendered inoperable over 26 kilometers of underground networks in the eastern Gaza sector. Soldiers from the Southern Command remain deployed near the border fence, adhering to the terms of the ceasefire agreement.

The IDF stated that its forces will continue operations in the area to protect their positions and eliminate any immediate threats. This announcement comes as the Israeli government maintains that dismantling Hamas's military infrastructure and demilitarizing Gaza are top priorities.
