IDF Destroys Over One Kilometer of Terror Tunnels in Gaza Amid Widespread Operations
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported extensive operational activity across multiple fronts during the past week. In the Gaza Strip, the IDF destroyed more than one kilometer of underground tunnels, focusing on systematic drilling efforts to locate and eliminate Hamas's subterranean terror infrastructure, particularly around Khan Yunis. Approximately 20 militants were killed, including those involved in rebuilding Hamas's infrastructure and those who infiltrated Israel on October 7.
In southern Lebanon, the IDF conducted four targeted airstrikes against militants posing threats to Israeli forces, including attacks on three Hezbollah command centers following ceasefire violations by the group. These operations aim to maintain freedom of action and protect Israeli troops from immediate threats.
In the West Bank, over 60 wanted individuals were arrested during numerous operations, including suspects planning attacks, Hamas affiliates, and those involved in stone-throwing and arms trafficking. Security forces seized about 162,000 shekels intended for terrorism, five drones, explosives materials, incitement content, ammunition, and weapons such as pistols and M-16 rifles. Notably, the elite Duvdevan unit arrested eight suspects in the Binyamin Brigade area following intelligence from the Shin Bet related to attacks on Israeli civilians.
Along Israel's eastern and western borders, the IDF continues to thwart smuggling attempts and strengthen defenses through ongoing patrols, arrests, and seizures of weapons and terror funding. The overall operational posture remains highly alert to counter threats and prevent the restoration of terrorist capabilities.
The IDF spokesperson emphasized that these combined efforts across Gaza, Lebanon, and the West Bank are part of a continuous campaign to neutralize threats and safeguard Israeli citizens from terrorism.
