IDF Destroys Terror Tunnel Holding Hostages in Southern Gaza
Over the past eight months, the 188th Brigade Combat Team under the Gaza Division (143rd) has been conducting operations in southern Gaza Strip to defend and clear the area east of the 'yellow line' from terrorist infrastructure. During these operations, in coordination with the Engineering Corps, the forces destroyed more than ten underground tunnels used by Hamas for terrorist activities, including one tunnel specifically used to hold hostages.
The troops also uncovered a significant cache of weapons, including rocket launchers, rockets, grenades, explosive charges, and Kalashnikov rifles. In addition to neutralizing these threats, the brigade established new routes and positions to enhance defensive control in the area.
These efforts are part of ongoing measures to secure the southern Gaza border region and prevent terrorist attacks originating from underground infrastructure.
