Israel Destroys Over 16 Miles of Gaza Tunnels
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have destroyed more than 26 kilometers (approximately 16 miles) of underground tunnels in the Gaza Strip. Forces from the Northern Brigade, under the command of the 99th Division, are operating in northern Gaza to clear the border area of what they term "terrorist infrastructure." In recent weeks, soldiers, working with the elite Yahalom engineering unit, neutralized an approximately one-kilometer-long underground route.
Since the implementation of a ceasefire, army units have neutralized over 26 kilometers of tunnels located east of the established border line. Operations to locate and eliminate these hidden structures are ongoing, utilizing specialized equipment and engineering technologies.
The IDF continues its efforts to dismantle the extensive tunnel network, which has been a significant focus of its operations in the region.
