Netanyahu Praises Shin Bet Agents for Capturing Senior Hamas Official
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Shin Bet agents on Wednesday at the Gaza Division headquarters to commend them for their role in capturing a senior Hamas official. The operation, which also involved the IDF Southern Command, successfully apprehended the head of Hamas's internal security in the Gaza Strip. Netanyahu described the operation as "audacious and successful."
Special forces from the Shin Bet infiltrated a building in Gaza City to make the arrest, while the Israeli Air Force simultaneously struck targets to neutralize threats to the engaged forces. No Israeli soldiers were injured during the operation.
According to Israeli authorities, the arrested official was recently involved in restoring Hamas control in northern Gaza, planning attacks against troops near the border, concealing and transferring hostages, protecting other high-ranking Hamas leaders, and aiding in the reconstruction of the group's capabilities. The suspect has been transferred to Israel for interrogation by security services.
