New Mitsubishi Pajero Debuts Globally, Won't Reach Israel

Mitsubishi has unveiled the fifth generation of its iconic Pajero SUV, built on the platform of the sixth-generation Triton pickup truck. The new model features a specially developed suspension system and an 8-speed automatic transmission, paired with a 2.4-liter diesel engine producing an estimated 204 horsepower and 48.9 kgfm of torque. Despite its global debut, the Pajero will not be available in Israel due to a lack of appropriate regulatory compliance.

The redesigned Pajero boasts a modern exterior with subtle nods to the first generation, including a more upright stance and angular design elements. It has grown in size compared to its predecessor, measuring 4.92 meters in length, 1.92 meters in width, and 1.91 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 2.87 meters. Ground clearance is 23 cm, with approach and departure angles of 30.4 and 25.8 degrees, respectively.

The interior combines ruggedness with luxury, featuring a dashboard with metal finishes and a large, integrated 14.3-inch touchscreen display. The cabin is designed for comfort and quietness, offering three rows of seating, climate control for all rows, a 12-speaker Yamaha audio system, leather upholstery, and advanced safety features including 8 airbags, adaptive cruise control, and cross-traffic alert.

The new Pajero utilizes a ladder frame chassis and Mitsubishi's S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control) and SS4-II (Super Select 4WD-II) systems, offering four-wheel-drive modes (2H, 4H, 4HLc, 4LLc) and seven distinct driving modes for various terrains. Mitsubishi plans to launch the vehicle initially in Thailand, followed by Japan, Australia, and other Asian markets, as well as Latin America and the Middle East in the coming year. The company anticipates the new Pajero will be sold in approximately 100 countries.
