Israeli Defense Tech Firm AITAN Raises $41 Million in New Funding Round

Israeli defense technology company AITAN, formerly eyesAtop, has announced the successful completion of a significant funding round, raising $41 million. This latest investment brings the company's total raised capital to $54 million. The funding round was co-led by venture capital firms Deep33 and Dell Technologies Capital, with participation from several other prominent international investors.

The capital infusion is earmarked to accelerate AITAN's global operations and to further develop its technological solutions focused on "ammunition independence" for the era of robotic warfare. The company's systems, which are AI-based, are designed to enable robotic forces to execute complex combat missions while minimizing risks to human soldiers.

AITAN was founded by former Unit 8200 officers Udi Oster and Daniel Almog, who previously co-founded Tapingo, a company acquired by Grubhub. The events of October 7th and the subsequent war have made the mission deeply personal for the founders. Their friend Orr Levy was abducted to Gaza, and his wife Einav was murdered. In September 2024, Udi's younger brother, Captain Eitan Oster, a fallen soldier from the Egoz unit, was killed during ground operations in Lebanon. The company was subsequently renamed AITAN in his honor and memory.

The company's technology is already in operational use by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Ministry of Defense, having accumulated over half a million operational flight hours. AITAN recently secured a major tender to develop the IDF's command and control platform for its next generation of attack drones.

This funding for AITAN follows another substantial investment in the Israeli tech sector, with HR tech firm HiBob announcing a $166 million funding round led by Salesforce earlier in the week.
