Israeli Defense Tech Firm AITAN Raises $41 Million in Funding Round

Israeli defense technology company AITAN, formerly eyesAtop, has successfully closed a $41 million funding round, co-led by Deep33 and Dell Technologies Capital. This latest investment brings the company's total raised capital to $54 million since its inception. AITAN specializes in artificial intelligence-based systems designed to enable military forces to operate and coordinate drones and other unmanned systems on the battlefield. Its technology aims to connect disparate systems, allowing them to function as a cohesive unit and reduce soldier exposure to risk.

The company's solution, termed Robotic Sovereignty-as-a-Service, provides nations with the capability to manage, maintain, and update their robotic combat systems independently, mitigating reliance on foreign suppliers and supply chains. The need for rapidly adaptable robotic systems has been highlighted by recent conflicts, where traditional weapon systems' long production cycles are insufficient. AITAN's technology allows for swift software updates and AI capability adjustments to match evolving threats and operational realities.

AITAN's systems are reportedly in daily use by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Ministry of Defense, accumulating over half a million operational flight hours since October 7. The company recently secured a tender to develop the IDF's command and control platform for the next generation of attack drones and has also signed contracts for robotic weapon system design. AITAN plans to expand its operations to allied nations.

The company was founded by Udi Oster and Daniel Almog, who previously founded the food ordering platform Tapingo, which was acquired by Grubhub. The personal impact of the October 7 events and the subsequent war has been significant for the founders. AITAN was renamed in memory of Udi Oster's younger brother, Major Eitan Oster, who was killed in action in Lebanon in September 2024. "With the outbreak of 'Swords of Iron' war, it was clear to us that the only goal before us was to help our friends and family members win and return safely from captivity and the battlefield," stated Udi Oster. "Three years later, with our technology already having a wide operational impact on the ground, it is the right time to broaden the scope and bring these capabilities to Israel's allies around the world."

The newly raised funds will be allocated towards continued product development, international expansion, and team growth.
