Summer Heat Intensifies Across Israel With Rising Temperatures

Temperatures are set to rise across Israel on Thursday, marking a significant increase in heat intensity. While the morning may see some lingering clouds in certain areas, they are expected to dissipate, leading to clearer skies and a slight temperature increase, particularly in mountainous regions and inland areas.

This warming trend will be accompanied by a substantial rise in heat stress across broad swathes of the country. The Golan Heights, the Kinneret Basin, the Dead Sea area, the Jordan Valley, and the Arava desert are bracing for extreme heat stress during the day. Other regions will also experience hot and oppressive conditions.

Northern Israel, the Carmel and Menashe hills, the coastal plain, the Shefela region, the central mountains, the Negev, and the Judean Desert can expect heavy heat stress, especially in the afternoon. Inland areas, further from the sea's moderating influence, will feel the heat most acutely. Along the coast, higher humidity may exacerbate the feeling of heat, even if temperatures are not exceptionally high.

Some relief from the heat stress is anticipated in the evening, with partly cloudy conditions expected overnight. However, some areas may retain relatively high nighttime temperatures. Health officials are advising the public to avoid prolonged sun exposure during the hottest hours, ensure adequate hydration, and exercise particular caution in areas facing severe to extreme heat stress.
