Major Government Auto Insurance Tender Awarded to Three Insurers

Israel's Ministry of Finance announced the winners of its largest-ever government auto insurance tender on Wednesday, covering state employees and retirees for 2027. The Phoenix, Migdal, and WeSure insurance companies were awarded the contract, which is valued at over 400 million shekels and will provide coverage for more than 70,000 vehicles.

For the first time, the tender has been extended to include career soldiers in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), a move expected to bring thousands of career personnel into the government insurance plan with preferential terms. The updated policy emphasizes innovation and personalization, introducing differential pricing that rewards careful drivers and offering new options for full deductible waivers for those with excellent insurance histories.

Enhanced coverage includes expanded towing services and daily young driver insurance. The digital transformation continues, with approximately 66% of employees expected to enroll independently in 2026, receiving an immediate digital policy on their mobile devices.

Senior Deputy Accountant General, Eli Bitan, stated that the growing number of insured individuals demonstrates the model's significant success in both service and economic savings for the state budget.
