Israeli Student Finds Cockroach in Salad, Suffers Severe Symptoms
A 19-year-old student from Netanya, Uri, experienced a distressing incident after purchasing a fried eggplant salad with sweet and sour sauce from the "Marrakesh" brand, produced by "Salat Shamir." While eating the salad, he discovered an unusual texture in his mouth and upon inspection, found he had ingested half of a cockroach.
The incident caused Uri to suffer severe abdominal pain and vomiting. He subsequently contacted "Salat Shamir's" customer service, the supermarket where the product was purchased, and the Ministry of Health to report the lapse in quality control.
"Salat Shamir" expressed regret over the incident, stating that their factory adheres to strict food safety and quality standards, including ISO and FSSC certifications. The company noted that regular laboratory tests and bi-weekly pest control measures are in place, and that the specific production batch in question had no other reported complaints.
The company has since contacted Uri and agreed to provide him with appropriate compensation.
