Water Outage Forces School Closures in Negev Bedouin Towns

Local councils in the Bedouin towns of Shaqib al-Salam and Tel al-Sabi in the Negev announced on Wednesday the suspension of classes in all schools and kindergartens due to a widespread water outage. The decision was made to ensure the health and safety of students.

The Shaqib al-Salam Local Council stated that the water supply interruption was caused by Mekorot, Israel's national water company, affecting the southern region and consequently the town. The council emphasized that the closure was a precautionary measure for the well-being of the children.

Similarly, the Tel al-Sabi Local Council confirmed that the lack of water in educational institutions necessitated the suspension of schooling, prioritizing student health and safety.

Both councils are coordinating with relevant authorities to resolve the water crisis and restore supply as quickly as possible. They pledged to keep residents informed of any developments and urged families to follow official announcements, thanking them for their understanding and cooperation.
