Two Israeli Teens Charged with Spying for Iranian Intelligence

Two teenagers, aged 14 and 16, from the Krayot area near Haifa, have been indicted for allegedly spying for Iran's intelligence services. The complex, covert investigation, conducted by the Asher District Police, Lahav 433's Barak unit, and other security agencies, revealed that the minors were recruited online under the guise of a job search.

According to police, the initial contact was made by an Iranian agent who tasked the younger teen with seemingly innocuous missions, such as distributing flyers. The agent then demanded the teen provide full identification through photographs. Following this, the 14-year-old recruited his 16-year-old friend, and together they allegedly carried out sensitive security tasks.

These tasks included photographing strategic sites in central Israel and spray-painting graffiti with anti-government messages. The pair also reportedly attempted to recruit other minors for similar activities. They are suspected of receiving several thousand shekels for their services.

The investigation began with the arrest of the younger teen at Ben Gurion Airport upon his return to Israel. With the investigation concluded and a prosecutor's statement filed, the Haifa District Prosecutor's Office is expected to file indictments against both minors.

Police emphasized their commitment to combating enemy states' attempts to recruit Israeli citizens, especially minors, to harm national security. They urged parents to be vigilant about their children's online activities and report any suspicious contact.
