Two Israeli Minors Charged With Spying for Iran

Israel's State Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against two minors, aged 14 and 16, from Kiryat Motzkin, accusing them of carrying out tasks for an Iranian foreign agent in exchange for payment. The indictment, filed in the Haifa District Court for Youth, details how the two boys allegedly collaborated on missions including photographing locations and spraying graffiti.

The scheme began in June 2026 when one of the minors contacted an individual on a job-seeking Telegram group who identified himself as "Daniel." This individual offered payment for completing tasks. The minor later involved his friend in the activities. The pair reportedly continued collaborating on some missions even after they suspected, and later knew, that "Daniel" was acting on behalf of Iran.

Among the tasks performed, one minor allegedly photographed various sites in Israel, including malls in Herzliya and Tel Aviv. In one instance, he provided the agent with details about the number of entrances and exits at a mall, as well as the number of security guards present. Fearing the information could be used for an attack, he deleted the videos he sent after this particular mission.

The indictment also states the two boys sprayed graffiti in the Kiryat Motzkin area and sent photographic evidence to the agent. The boys received payments totaling hundreds of shekels, partly in cryptocurrency. One minor allegedly impersonated a soldier from Unit 8200 on Telegram to solicit further assignments and attempted to recruit other minors for "high-risk" tasks.

One minor is charged with contact with a foreign agent, three counts of providing information to the enemy, and property damage. The second minor faces charges of aiding contact with a foreign agent and property damage. A gag order is in place preventing the publication of any details that could identify the underage defendants.
