Israel Braces for Heatwave After Brief Cool Spell

Israel is set to experience a significant increase in heat and humidity starting Tuesday, following a brief period of cooler weather and localized rain. Sunday saw partly cloudy skies with scattered showers expected in the north until midday, accompanied by a further drop in temperatures that left them below seasonal averages, particularly in mountainous and inland areas. This brought considerable relief from the heat.

Monday will remain partly cloudy, with a chance of drizzle along the coast in the morning. Temperatures will rise slightly but will still be a bit cooler than usual for this time of year, especially in the mountains and inland.

However, the respite is short-lived. By Tuesday, after morning clouds dissipate, the weather will turn fair with a further slight increase in temperatures, pushing them above seasonal norms. Heat stress is expected to intensify.

This warming trend will continue into Wednesday, with more sunshine and another slight rise in temperatures, particularly in inland and mountainous regions. Heat conditions are predicted to worsen further.

Temperature readings for Sunday included Tel Aviv-Yafo at 25-30°C, Haifa at 25-29°C, Jerusalem at 19-28°C, Ashdod at 25-31°C, Be'er Sheva at 22-32°C, Ashkelon at 26-30°C, Mitzpe Ramon at 18-28°C, and Afula at 24-32°C.
