Elkana Buchbut Welcomes Baby Girl Less Than a Year After Returning from Hamas Captivity
Elkana Buchbut and his wife Rivka have welcomed a baby girl just ten and a half months after Elkana's return from Hamas captivity. Elkana was kidnapped from a party in Nova on October 7 and held captive for 738 days before being released and reunited with his wife and their son Ram last October. A few months after his return, the couple discovered they were expecting another child and publicly announced the pregnancy in April.
During Elkana's captivity, their son Ram expressed a desire for a little sister, which Rivka explained they had to wait for their father to come home to fulfill. Elkana shared that even while held in the tunnels in Gaza, he thought about not returning and about Ram not having siblings. In a June interview, Elkana described the birth as a dream and a miracle, symbolizing victory and renewal after the ordeal.
Rivka revealed she found out about the pregnancy shortly after Elkana's return, and Elkana reacted with joyous shouting upon hearing the news. The couple views the new child as a powerful symbol of life and resilience following Elkana's captivity and their struggle for his release.
