Ofer Winter Gains 4% Chance as Israel's Next PM in Prediction Market Two Days After Party Launch
Just 48 hours after launching his new political party, Ofer Winter has entered the Polymarket prediction platform with a 4% chance of becoming Israel's next prime minister, matching Avigdor Lieberman's odds. According to the latest data on Thursday, retired IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot leads the market with a commanding 52%, followed by current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at 28%, and former PM Naftali Bennett at 8%. Itamar Ben-Gvir trails with 1%.
Winter's rapid emergence in the prediction market is notable given his recent official entry into politics. While his 4% chance is far behind the frontrunners, it equals Lieberman's and represents half of Bennett's share. However, these figures reflect market trading probabilities rather than traditional public opinion polls.
Trading volumes also highlight disparities among candidates. Contracts linked to Netanyahu have seen about $3.25 million in trading, Bennett $2.98 million, Lieberman $2.43 million, and Eizenkot $1.68 million. Winter's contracts have a much smaller volume of approximately $173,000, reflecting his newcomer status.
Winter's political debut has sparked interest regarding the source of his voter base and the potential impact on the right-wing bloc ahead of upcoming elections. His party launch and immediate presence in the prediction market underscore the dynamic nature of Israel's political landscape.
