IDF Arrests Brother of 2022 Dizengoff Terrorist for Planning Attack in West Bank

Israeli special forces from the Duvdevan Unit arrested Maam Hazam in Jenin for planning a terror attack targeting Israeli civilians and security forces. The arrest took place days after the killing of his father, Fathi Hazam, who was shot by Israeli forces during an operation in Jenin after attempting to stab a soldier. Maam Hazam is the brother of Raad Hazam, the terrorist responsible for the deadly 2022 shooting attack on Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv that killed three Israelis and injured six others.

The operation was conducted under the command of the Menashe Brigade and with the guidance of the Shin Bet. In a separate raid near the village of Sanur, Israeli forces also arrested another terrorist suspected of planning an attack against Israeli civilians. These arrests are part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts in the West Bank to prevent further attacks following recent escalations.

The IDF emphasized that Maam Hazam expressed intent to carry out attacks following his father's death, highlighting the familial link in this cycle of violence. The security forces continue to operate in the area to thwart terror plots and maintain security for Israeli citizens.
