Israeli Forces Arrest Terrorist Planning Immediate Attack in Jenin

Israeli special forces from the Duvdevan Unit arrested Maam Hazam in Jenin on Monday during a special operation. According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Hazam planned to carry out an attack targeting Israeli civilians and security forces. The operation was conducted under the command of the Menashe Brigade and guided by the Shin Bet security service.

Maam Hazam's arrest followed the killing of his father, Fathi Hazam, by IDF forces last week. Fathi Hazam was shot after attempting to stab an Israeli soldier during an offensive operation in Jenin. After his father's death, Maam Hazam expressed intentions to execute a terror attack against Israeli targets, prompting the preemptive arrest.

Maam Hazam is also the brother of Raad Hazam, who perpetrated the 2022 shooting attack on Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv, which resulted in the deaths of three Israeli civilians and injuries to six others. In a related development, Israeli forces arrested another terrorist in the village of Sanur, also in the Menashe Brigade area, who was independently planning an attack against Israeli civilians.

Overall, two terrorists were detained in separate operations aimed at preventing imminent attacks on Israeli citizens. The IDF emphasized that these arrests were part of ongoing efforts to thwart terror activities in the region.
