Gett Launches Global Ride-Hailing Service for Israelis in 25 Countries

תורגם ותומצת מתוך Channel 13 על ידי baba
The story · English

Gett, the Israeli transportation company, has launched a new international ride-hailing service in partnership with HQ, a company that aggregates local transportation providers in hundreds of cities worldwide. This service allows Israeli users to book taxis and private cars directly through the familiar Gett app without needing to download additional apps. It aims to solve the common hassle travelers face when arriving in new destinations, such as searching for local transportation apps, registering anew, and calculating fares in foreign currencies.

The service offers a variety of vehicle options depending on the city, including taxis, private cars, electric vehicles, premium cars, and large shuttles, with transparent pricing displayed upfront in Israeli shekels. Customer support is provided in Hebrew through Gett. Initially, the service is available in 25 countries, including popular summer destinations like the United States, France, Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and Canada. Gett plans to expand this coverage to over 70 countries.

Gett's expansion comes amid its dominant position in the Israeli taxi market, which has led to the disappearance of traditional taxi stands and a shift to meter-based payments. This dominance has caused tensions with taxi drivers, who have protested, claiming the app threatens their livelihoods. Meanwhile, Israeli Transport Minister Miri Regev had announced plans to introduce ride-sharing services like Uber in Israel, but these plans have not materialized.

Mark On, CEO of Gett, stated that the company continuously adapts to users' changing needs and now enables Israelis to use Gett abroad, aiming to be the transportation platform for Israelis worldwide. Amia Solomon, CEO of HQ, added that millions of Israelis will benefit from a seamless global transportation experience in Hebrew through the HQ Extend partnership.
